ATLANTA - The PGA Tour event in New Orleans is on the schedule for next year, but damage from Hurricane Katrina has left it unclear where it will be played.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is in the same spot on the 2006 schedule, April 27-30, two weeks after the Masters. It was moved last year to the TPC at Louisiana, one of dozens of golf courses ravaged by Katrina.

Tournament director John Subers was at the Tour Championship this week, recruiting players to come to the Zurich Classic. With the New Orleans Saints playing in San Antonio and Baton Rouge, La., and the NBA team having relocated to Oklahoma City this year, Subers said the Zurich Classic likely would be the first major sporting event in New Orleans after Katrina.

With most of the attention Wednesday on the tour’s revamped schedule for the 2007-10 television contract, officials quietly released a 2006 schedule that was nearly identical to this year.

The ’06 season starts Jan. 5 with the Mercedes Championships at Kapalua, and ends Nov. 5 with the Tour Championship returning to East Lake for the third straight year.

Among the changes:

—The Bob Hope Classic in California will be Jan. 18-22, after the Hawaii swing, and the Buick Invitational will be a week later at Torrey Pines.

—The Buick Championship at Hartford will move from the last weekend in August to first weekend in July, two weeks after the U.S. Open.

The Booz Allen Classic returns to the TPC at Avenel, after being played this year at Congressional. It will follow the U.S. Open, while the Barclays Classic at Westchester Country Club is the week before the U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open will be June 15-18 at Winged Foot in New York, while the PGA Championship is Aug. 17-20 at Medinah outside Chicago. The British Open will be July 20-23 at Royal Liverpool in England, the first time that links course has held an Open since Robert de Vicenzo won in 1967.

The only World Golf Championship to move is the American Express Championship, which will be played at The Grove outside London the last week of September. That event will be a week after the Ryder Cup, to be held Sept. 22-24 at the K Club in Ireland.
