USC Coach Pete Carroll is no fan of instant replay.
As coach of the visiting team in Saturday's non-conference game between No. 1 USC and No. 9 Notre Dame, rules give Carroll the option whether to use instant replay in a game.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Carroll said no thanks.
"I don't like it," he said. "I never have."
The NCAA does not keep track of schools that decline to use instant replay, but David Parry, coordinator of officials for the Big Ten Conference and national coordinator of officials for the Collegiate Commissioners Assn., told the Times that USC probably was the only school to opt against it this season.
"I have heard of no other schools turning down instant replay other than USC," Parry said.
Carroll was not a fan of instant replay when he coached in the NFL because it stops the flow of a game and not all call by replay officials are correct.
"Why stop a game if you're going to make mistakes fixing mistakes?" Carroll said.
