MONTREAL - The man charged with stealing Sidney Crosby's gold-medal game jersey from the World Junior Hockey Championships has apologized.
Jacques Lamoureux took the jersey from Crosby's bag last January when the phenom passed through Montreal's airport after the tournament.
Lamoureux, fired as an Air Canada baggage handler afterward, wanted the jersey for his daughter. It eventually ended up in a Montreal-area mailbox.
In addition to his apology, Lamoureux donated $300 to victims of criminal acts. He will not have a criminal record.
Crosby wore the sweater during Team Canada's gold-medal win over Russia in the championship Jan. 4 in Grand Forks, N.D.

It was auctioned off, with the proceeds going toward youth hockey charities and south Asian tsunami relief. The jersey yielded an astounding high bid of $22,100.
