LOS ANGELES - Dodgers outfielder Milton Bradley, probably facing season-ending surgery on his left knee, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday.

The Dodgers, riddled by injuries all season, recalled infielder-outfielder Mike Edwards from Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League to replace Bradley on the 25-man roster.

Cesar Izturis might be the next Los Angeles player to go on the disabled list. The All-Star shortstop, bothered by lower back pain, will undergo an MRI on Friday.

Dodgers team physician Frank Jobe has recommended surgery for Bradley, but general manager Paul DePodesta said the 27-year-old switch-hitter will visit Dr. Timothy Kremchek in Cincinnati for a second opinion.

Bradley’s injury was diagnosed a day after he escalated his simmering feud with teammate Jeff Kent in separate interviews with print and electronic media, accusing Kent of not being able to deal with African-American people and saying the five-time All-Star “has no clue about leadership.”

DePodesta said Bradley had an 80 percent tear of the patella tendon and issues with his left anterior cruciate ligament as well. Bradley was injured when he hit first base awkwardly Monday in the first inning of a 5-2 loss at Florida.

Bradley is hitting .290 with 13 homers and 38 RBIs in 75 games this season. He was sidelined for 47 games earlier in the year due to a torn ligament in his right ring finger.

Edwards batted .271 with one homer and nine RBIs in 62 games with the Dodgers earlier this season and hit .280 with four homers and 21 RBIs in 32 games with Las Vegas.

“It happened a little earlier than I expected,” Edwards said of being recalled. “I’m definitely happy to be back. I’m sure I’ll be used in the same role as before, coming off the bench and playing the infield and outfield, whatever they need.”

Speaking before Thursday night’s game against Colorado, Izturis said he’s unable to swing a bat or bend over to pick up ground balls. He hasn’t played since Monday.

Izturis said he’s been hampered for about three weeks — since the Dodgers’ three-game series in Washington from Aug. 2-4, and the pain goes all the way down his right leg.
