Vikings (1-4) looking like shipwrecks

Team stink vs. Bears amid sex boat scandal; Wilf must fire Tice

Culpepper sackedAP
Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher sacks Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper for an 11-yard loss during the Bears' 28-3 win on Sunday.

Bud Grant would not have tolerated this.

Nope. Don't agree with JT. First, the team is under tremendous pressure from the media and fans. Second, I think by next week the Vikings might just show up and play some football. Daunte Culpepper needs some help on the offensive side and the defense needs to become more aggressive without the penalties, if that can happen.
--Tonya, Pemberton, N.J.

Although I agree Tice must go, now is not the time. As usual, all the writers "shoot first and ask questions later." OK, they fire Tice, then what? Who takes his place? None of the know-it-all writers can say who should get the job. All his assistants are as lame as Tice is. Why spend more money on a "stop gap replacement" who'll be canned at the end of the year. Ride out the year with Tice, enjoy the great draft pick and get a solid coach next year.
--Scott Erickson, Upper Saddle River, N.J.

They should have fired Tice when it was revealed he was scalping Super Bowl tickets. They've been handed any number of reasons, and it's really time for him to go. Tice is way over his head. Maybe Ziggy will offer the head coaching position to Jim Fassel. He knows him and it'd be a great move for him.
--Heidi Shanklin, Portland, Ore.

I believe the Vikings scored more at sea than they did on the field! This team is in total disarray! The ownership needs to do something if they expect the fans to continue to support the team. I think everyone should boycott next week's home contest against the Pack. I want to see the seats empty next week! We the fans need to send a message to an inept ownership. This is our opportunity to send a strong message that we don't agree with how things are being handled.
--Cameron SAyer, Spotsylvania, Va.

How about waiting for the legal investigation to conclude its work first, then waive the players who were involved in the various misdemeanors and felonies? Once again, too many people think coaches should be the ones who are fired and not the players who committed the crimes. The coaches were not hired to babysit adult men, so how about making the players suffer the consequences for their own actions and poor choices? If the players' union wants to sue, let them try. U.S. public opinion and Congress are no longer going to look the other way.
--Stephen Lai, Portland, Ore.

The problem with Tice is he is one of the boys, not a head coach. But, that is nothing new -- he should've been gone long ago. Still, I hope Wilf can avoid panicking. This season is gone, so focus on getting the right coach for next year even if it takes a while.
--Robert Johnson, Minneapolis

JT is right on the money. The sorry, no-account Vikings are desperate for leadership and Tice provides none. Fire Tice and get ready to trade the troubled children and get some men who care about winning.
--Rick Reeder, Boca Raton, Fla.

No. 1, Mike Tice wasn't on the boat when these players were there. Where was the hue and cry for Phil Jackson's head when his Kobe Bryant was charged with rape? These players behaved badly. These women were not raped. To blame Tice for their behavior makes as much sense as whoever was Ray Carruth's coach being charged for the murder of his girlfriend. No. 2, there is a lot more wrong with sports (i.e. steroids, fights with fans in the stands) than these stupid football players having behaved badly
--William Dorfner, Hastings, Minn.
