Shaquille O'Neal had some entertaining things to say about his apparent successor with the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
The Lakers drafted 17-year-old Andrew Bynum, a 7-footer, with the No. 10 pick overall. Bynum, when drafted, said he is similar to Shaq, except that he makes his free throws. That apparently invited a shot from the Miami Heat center.
"Tell him Shaq doesn't respond to juvenile delinquents without a college degree," O'Neal said, the L.A. Times reported. "Tell him to get his degree and we can talk. In the meantime, he should call me Dr. Shaq because I'm working on my PhD."
O'Neal, who recently earned a master's degree from the University of Phoenix, said he wants to earn a doctorate in psychology, criminology or sports psychology, the newspaper reported.
The Lakers traded O'Neal to the Heat in the last offseason.
Jeremy Lin hit a free throw with 4.9 seconds left to overcome a dreadful second half and lift the New York Knicks to their fifth straight victory, 100-98, over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
