NBC to televise National Lacrosse League
Network to show league's All-Star game, final
NEW YORK - Lacrosse is coming to network television for the first time.
The National Lacrosse League and NBC reached an agreement for the network to televise its All-Star Game and Champion’s Cup Final.
NBC will provide live coverage of the All-Star Game, which will be played on Saturday, February 26 at 2 p.m. EST at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. The Champion’s Cup Final will be played on Saturday, May 14 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
“We are thrilled to bring this action packed sport to a network audience for the first time in history,” president of NBC Sports Ken Schanzer said.
NBC Sports is a partner in the joint venture that runs NBCSports.com.
“We’re excited to welcome NBC as a broadcast partner and look forward to bringing the great game of lacrosse to a national network audience for the first time in history,” NLL commissioner Jim Jennings said.
There are 10 teams in the NLL. Calgary and Toronto are the lone Canadian franchises.
