GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Sweet Catomine overcame traffic problems on the turn for home and posted a 3¾-length victory in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on Saturday.

Jockey Corey Natakani had to check Sweet Catomine on the final turn when they wound up in a tight spot. The imposing filly quickly regained her momentum and forced her way between rivals at the top of the lane.

Sweet Catomine, once in the clear, scooted away from the pack, and covered the 1 1-16 miles in 1:41.65.

“I was in a little tight but she was able to overcome that,” Nakatani said after his sixth Breeders’ Cup win.

“This is a very special filly,” trainer Julio Canani said after his third Breeders’ Cup win.

Sweet Catomine paid $6.60 to win as the favorite. Sweet Catomine earned $520,000 for owners Pam and Martin Wygod of New York.

Balletto was second, followed by Runway Model, Sis City — co-owned by Yankees manager Joe Torre — Dance Away Capote, Sharp Lisa, Culinary, Play With Fire, Sense of Style, Culture Clash, Mona Lisa and Higher World.
