NEW YORK - Some Olympians hawk cereal. Gary Hall Jr. is going after harder stuff.

The 50-meter freestyle gold medalist and fastest swimmer in U.S. history signed an endorsement deal with Guinness. Hall will help the famous Irish beer launch its low-carb, low-calorie campaign this month.

“To be successful at this level of competition, it’s important to watch what we put into our bodies,” Hall said. “And drinking Guinness allows me to enjoy a great tasting beer without the physical sacrifice or guilt.”

Three Olympic champions — swimmer Michael Phelps, gymnast Carly Patterson and sprinter Justin Gatlin — recently signed with Wheaties, with their photos appearing on the cereal box.
