  • SF Starting Pitcher #7
Brutal. The reigning NL Cy Young will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks after being one of the big names in the free agent market this offseason. In his three starts with the Giants, Snell is 0-3 with a 11.57 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and a 12/5 K/BB ratio. The 31-year-old southpaw hasn’t always had his best stuff at the beginning of the season, but hitting the injured list after he signed a two-year, $62 million contract is disaster for a Giants team that came into the season riddled with injuries to their pitching staff.
  • STL Right Fielder #18
It wasn’t the major league start the 21-year-old outfielder expected and because of that, the team will send him to Memphis to continue to develop. Walker made the Cardinals’ Opening Day roster, but slashed a horrid .155/.239/.259 in his 67 plate appearances. He didn’t record a hit in 12 of his 20 games played this season.
  • WAS Center Fielder #28
It’s certainly not what fantasy managers want to hear after Thomas made an early exit from Tuesday’s showdown against the Dodgers after twisting his left leg on a stolen base attempt. There should be an update on his status prior to Wednesday’s showdown. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment, but it’s possible he’ll wind up requiring a trip to the injured list.
  • CHC Center Fielder #24
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters afterwards that X-rays came back negative on Bellinger’s right ribs following his early exit from Tuesday’s contest after a fourth-inning collision with the center-field wall at Wrigley Field. There should be an additional update on his status at some point on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #54
Fried was efficient from start to finish in this one recording the third Maddux of his career. He entered the ninth inning with just 84 pitches thrown, and needed only eight pitches in the ninth to retire the side in order. It was a much-needed solid outing for the Braves’ ace, who entered the day sporting a 7.71 ERA through his first four outings. Tuesday’s complete game marked the fifth of Fried’s career, while the shutout was the fourth he has thrown. He’ll look to follow up this outing with another strong performance on Monday against the Mariners.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #29
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Kelly will not require surgery to address a teres major strain in his right shoulder, but the club doesn’t know the severity or next steps for the 35-year-old veteran right-hander until he receives additional medical opinions. There should be some clarity on his return timetable in the coming days, but fantasy managers should expect him to require a lengthy absence, especially since shoulder issues can be extremely complicated matters.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
It’s the first time Trout has led off for Los Angeles since the second game of a late-August doubleheader against the Astros during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. His previous appearance before that was back in early 2018. The 32-year-old generational talent is in the midst of a renaissance campaign with an .889 OPS with eight homers and five steals through 23 contests.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #59
Espada added that Valdez will throw a bullpen session this week while the Astros are in Chicago and could return this weekend to start against the Rockies in Mexico City. The 30-year-old southpaw landed on the injured list earlier this month with left elbow inflammation, but has been able to complete several recent bullpen sessions without any issues. It certainly sounds like he could return to bolster Houston’s injury-plagued starting rotation this weekend. Stay tuned.
  • BAL Left Fielder #13
It’s an extremely encouraging sign that the Orioles are throwing Kjerstad right into the fire following his early-season promotion instead of having him languish on the bench. The 25-year-old slugger tore the cover off the ball this season for Triple-A Norfolk, posting an astronomical 1.176 OPS with 10 homers, 30 RBI and one steal in 21 games. He projects as a potential four-category impact fantasy contributor, if he’s given an everyday opportunity in Baltimore’s loaded lineup.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #28
It’s fair to speculate how much is left in the tank for the soft-tossing Hendricks after struggling to a calamitous 12.00 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and 16/7 K/BB ratio across 21 innings (five starts). the 34-year-old veteran has enjoyed a remarkable career with the Cubs since 2014, but he’s given up a staggering 37 hits, including a league-high eight round-trippers, through his five starts. It’s possible he’s been pitching through a lingering injury, which would help explain his early-season struggles.
