Tepesch struggles against Rockies
Nick Tepesch - S - Texas Rangers
March 22, 2013 - 8:10 PM ET

Projected fifth starter Nick Tepesch failed to impress Friday against the Rockies, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and three walks over five innings.

Yikes. Tepesch entered the outing with the fifth spot all but locked up after Justin Grimm was sent to Triple-A and Randy Wells was reassigned to minor league camp, so the Rangers can't be thrilled with what they saw. Of course, Derek Lowe was knocked around by the Angels on Thursday night, so there might not be any better internal options. There's always the chance that the Rangers could sign Kyle Lohse or trade for Rick Porcello, but there's nothing to indicate that either possibility is in the cards.
