Byrd nearly certain to win right field job
Marlon Byrd - OF - New York Mets
March 20, 2013 - 2:15 PM ET

According to one Mets' official, Marlon Byrd is "99.9 percent certain" to win the starting right field job.

Given his strong performance this spring and the sorry state of the Mets' outfield, it's almost a given at this point. Byrd, a non-roster invitee, is hitting .324 (11-for-34) with four doubles and four RBI during Grapefruit League play. While he figures to get most of the starts initially, Mike Baxter and Jordany Valdespin could also see playing time. The 35-year-old is a pretty uninspiring option outside of deeper NL-only fantasy leagues.
