Yankees general manager Brian Cashman hasn't ruled out the possibility that Derek Jeter (ankle) could begin the season on the disabled list.
Jeter was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to mild inflammation in his surgically-repaired left ankle and received an anti-inflammatory injection on Wednesday. It's not a major setback, but the Yankees want him to play a full nine innings and back-to-back games before Opening Day. He could still pull that off, but it all depends on how the ankle responds in the coming days.
