Red Sox manager John Farrell said Wednesday that Daniel Nava is a candidate to bat second against right-handers.
Just in case it wasn't obvious already, this would seem to indicate that Nava is a pretty safe lock to make the Opening Day roster. The 30-year-old batted .243/.352/.390 with six home runs and a .742 OPS in 88 games with the Red Sox last season and is slated to share playing time with Jonny Gomes in left field. He could have sneaky value in AL-only leagues if Farrell decides to hit him second.
