Coach Mike Munchak confirmed that Ryan Fitzpatrick will not be competing for the starting job.
"Ryan will know his role. Ryan's been in this situation before. He knows that Jake is going to be the guy," Munchak said. The coach went on to say that since Locker is a running quarterback, there's a "chance" that the No. 2 quarterback is going to play a lot. Locker missed five games last season and was limited in a few others due to shoulder woes. He has "got to stay healthy," Munchak said. "That was probably the biggest problem last year. It was hard to judge him."
