Dolphins DT Starks signs $8.5M franchise tag

Dolphins signed franchise player DT Randy Starks to a one-year, $8.5 million contract.
The sides now have until July 15 to work out a long-term agreement. Starks was a key player along the Dolphins' stout defensive line last season, but going on 30, he'll likely be allowed to play under his one-year tender. An extension could become more realistic if the Dolphins decide they need to clear more 2013 cap space.
