Elvis Dumervil caves, accepting $4M pay cut
Elvis Dumervil - DL - Denver Broncos
March 15, 2013 - 4:00 PM ET

Broncos RE Elvis Dumervil has agreed to cut his $12 million salary to $8 million, and will remain with the team for 2013.

Dumervil saw a market littered with underpaid pass rushers, and wisely realized it was his only real option. Reports suggested he'd have to take a much bigger reduction, so $8 million is actually a win. Dumervil almost certainly would have brought home less in free agency. Dumervil can still get after the quarterback ' he notched 11 sacks in 2012 ' but is a liability against the run, and was penalized eight times last season. His new salary is more in line with what he brings to the table at this stage of his career.
