Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Yasel Puig is "not really" under consideration for an Opening Day roster spot.
"Not really, in my mind," Mattingly said. "If we're going to be realistic about it, it's probably not best for him." Puig has mashed the ball to the tune of a .412/.400/.588 batting line this spring, but it wouldn't make sense to rush him even if Carl Crawford isn't ready on Opening Day. The 22-year-old has played only 23 games over pro ball, and none of them have come above A-ball.
