David Ortiz (Achilles) admitted Monday that being ready for Opening Day is not realistic, and his goal is to be healthy for "five or five and a half months."
Big Papi has been shut down for the next 5-7 days while he deals with inflammation in both of his heels. All things considered, it could be much worse, as the MRI came back relatively clean. Ortiz will hope to be back by mid-April. In the meantime, the Red Sox could use Ryan Lavarnway in the DH spot, or they could also put Mike Napoli there and have Mike Carp play first base.
