Hefner would fill in if Santana isn't ready

Mets manager Terry Collins said that Jeremy Hefner would take Johan Santana's (shoulder) spot in the rotation if the lefty isn't ready to start the season.
"We're getting Jeremy Hefner ready," Collins said. "In case Johan can't post, we've got to make sure he's lengthened out, so that we have a guy ready to step in." Hefner has a 2.61 ERA in 10 1/3 innings this spring. He posted a 5.03 ERA across 93 2/3 frames in 2012.
