Lawrie (side) unlikely for first round of WBC

Brett Lawrie (side) said Thursday that it's unlikely he'll play for Canada in the first round of the World Baseball Classic.
It's a tough break for Team Canada. Lawrie felt a twinge on his left side in an exhibition game on Wednesday and was told by doctors that it's a mild strain. While he believes that it's more mild than his right oblique injury from last year, there's no reason to take any chances this close to the regular season.
