According to the Times Union, the "feeling inside the building" is that Marcedes Lewis was underused last season.
Lewis carries a $5.75 million cap number in 2013, but his roster spot isn't in doubt as the new regime is high on him. GM David Caldwell has been "consistent in his praise" of the athletic tight end and feels Lewis was kept in for pass protection too often last year. Lewis has the skills to capitalize on mismatches with linebackers as evidenced by his 700-yard, 10-touchdown outburst in 2010.
