Gallardo cleared to start Friday vs. Team USA

Yovani Gallardo has been cleared to start for Mexico on Friday night against Team USA.
It's the World Baseball Classic opener for both teams. Gallardo had been bothered by a mild right groin strain, but he tossed an inning Tuesday in an exhibition game against the Diamondbacks and it went well. "I felt good," Gallardo said about his 24-pitch outing. "I threw mostly fastballs. A couple of sliders, a changeup and a curveball. But I felt fine." He will be facing Team USA's R.A. Dickey.
