Martin Perez has been fitted with a temporary splint and not the traditional plaster arm cast.
Perez only has a cracked ulna bone in his left forearm, not a displaced fracture. He will be shut down for the next four weeks but should be ready to rock at some point in early-to-mid May. The talented young left-hander will likely report to the Triple-A level once he's healthy, but he is sure to be promoted to Texas eventually. The Rangers' fifth starter spot is up for grabs.
