The Cowboys would "love" to lock up free agent OLB Anthony Spencer before March 12, but it "looks less likely by the day" that it will happen.
Dallas, "at this point," doesn't plan to use the franchise tag on Spencer for the second straight year. The Cowboys have knocked their cap number down with their restructurings over the last couple of days, but the plan isn't to go blow it all on re-signing Spencer. He's likely to reach the open market, and the Cowboys' chances of keeping him will take a hit.
