Roberto Hernandez started against the Tigers on Thursday and allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings.
Hernandez allowed two hits, walked two and struck out one. Four of his seven outs came on the ground. The Rays will consider putting Hernandez into the rotation if he shows a good sinker this spring. Jeff Niemann has to be considered the favorite to be their fifth starter, but he may well be traded if Hernandez impresses.
