Teams don't downgrade CBs for bench press
Tyrann Mathieu - DB - College Player
Feb. 27, 2013 - 12:30 AM ET

Eight-year NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah "can't recall a single time" that a team he worked for downgraded a cornerback on its draft board due to bench-press reps at the Combine.

Media observers found it more interesting that Tyrann Mathieu only benched 225 pounds four times, but NFL teams care much less about Mathieu's weight-room strength. Overall, his Combine workout was average. Mathieu officially ran 4.50 in the forty with a 34-inch vertical and 9-foot-9 broad jump. Deion Sanders remains convinced Mathieu will be "a baller" and "immediate starter" in the pros.
