Perez threw 16 out of 27 pitches for strikes. One of his strikeouts caught Troy Tulowitzki looking. It was a very favorable first impression as he attempts to win a rotation spot. Justin Grimm, who is also in the mix for the fifth spot, gave up three runs on four hits and a walk over two innings.
