Jags GM: 'Wide-open' quarterback competition
Blaine Gabbert - QB - Jacksonville Jaguars
Feb. 25, 2013 - 11:45 AM ET

GM David Caldwell says the Jaguars will have a "wide-open competition" at quarterback.

Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley have spent the offseason pumping up Blaine Gabbert, but aren't going to hand him the starting job after he showed few signs of progress in 2012. Gabbert's primary competition will remain Chad Henne, but Caldwell expects to add "one or two" more quarterbacks through the draft or free agency. The Jags need as much competition as they can get for Gabbert, who may be too deeply flawed of a player to ever get over the hump.
