Michael Fiers threw two scoreless innings Saturday in the Brewers' 2-1 victory over the A's.
Fiers gave up a hit and walked two but held the A's scoreless, recording two strikeouts in his two innings of work. The 27-year-old was a revelation in 2012, when he posted a 3.74 ERA in 22 starts. Maybe the most surprising thing about Fiers' 2012 was his strikeout total; despite an underwhelming fastball, Fiers punched out 135 batters in 127 2/3 innings. It remains to be seen whether he can build on last season, but Saturday was a good start.
