The Boston Globe believes Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard is unlikely to face a league-imposed suspension for his conviction on assault charges because the incident took place before he was an NFL player.
Beat writer Greg Bedard believes the case is different from Terrelle Pryor's ' where the NFL upheld a five-game ban initially handed down by the NCAA ' because Pryor was expressly trying to circumvent NCAA punishment when he declared for the 2011 Supplemental Draft. Dennard was under neither NCAA nor NFL jurisdiction at the time of his April 2012 incident. Jets NT Kenrick Ellis wasn't suspended under circumstances similar to Dennard's in 2011.
