By showing up for the final six games of the season a la Vincent Jackson in 2010, players still accrue a year toward free agency. Since Harvin is in the final year of his rookie deal, he'd greatly reduce the chance of injury just before cashing in on the open market. We wouldn't expect the situation to become this dire, but it's a chip Harvin can keep in his back pocket.
