Crawford 'feels good' after first BP session
Carl Crawford - OF - Los Angeles Dodgers
Feb. 17, 2013 - 10:25 PM ET

Carl Crawford took his first live batting practice session of spring training on Sunday in Dodgers' camp.

Crawford had been hitting in the cage this offseason, so this was his first real batting practice since undergoing Tommy John surgery last August. "I was really surprised," manager Don Mattingly said. "For the first time in open space, that's just a lot different, and I'm sure he doesn't feel good, but I thought he was good." Crawford's next step will be ramping up his throwing program. The 31-year-old outfielder expects to be ready for Opening Day.
