Beatty an option to be tagged by the Giants?

Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News considers free agent LT Will Beatty an option for the Giants' franchise tag.
Vacchiano "hears" that re-signing Beatty is the Giants' highest offseason priority. The franchise number for Beatty would be about $9.7 million, but the Giants' preference is a long-term deal. Vacchiano doesn't envision the G-Men using the franchise tag at all, but Beatty would be the most likely option if the team feels it'd be a steppingstone toward an extension.
