Nationals manager Davey Johnson confirmed on Friday that Micah Owings will play first base and outfield for the Nationals, but will not be used as a pitcher.
The 30-year-old owns a career .283/.310/.502 line in the big leagues, with nine homers and 35 RBI in only 205 at-bats. It's not a stretch to think that he could develop into a useful right-handed bat off the bench, and could even become fantasy relevant should the Nationals suffer any injuries.
