Lions optimistic that Hanson will return

Lions GM Martin Mayhew remains optimistic that free agent K Jason Hanson will not retire this offseason.
Hanson is coming off another solid year that saw him convert 32-of-36 field goals -- including an impressive 18-of-22 mark from 40-plus yards out. Although he'll be 43 in June, the Lions want him back for a 22nd season. Hanson said he's willing to play for the 10-year veteran minimum, which will be $940,000 in 2013.
