VP Jones: Cowboys hope to keep Spencer
Anthony Spencer - LB - Dallas Cowboys
Feb. 12, 2013 - 5:40 PM ET

Executive VP Stephen Jones says the Cowboys hope to re-sign free agent OLB Anthony Spencer.

"We're always in the business of keeping great football players," Jones said Tuesday. "And he is one of those." The sides have expressed mutual public interest in a new deal, but the Cowboys' precarious cap situation makes it unlikely. Spencer would also have to switch to defensive end in Monte Kiffin's 4-3 defense, a move he says he'd embrace. Jones admits keeping Spencer is far from a slam dunk, and says he's hoping for a quick resolution. "Unfortunately you've got to make difficult decisions. What that will entail we don't know quite yet. We'll be moving forward in a quick way."
