Ryan Madson dealing with soreness in elbow

Ryan Madson hasn't thrown since February 1 due to soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow.
It's a little discouraging," said Madson, who had Tommy John surgery last April. That's obviously not what you want to hear, but Madson is optimistic that he'll be able to get over the hump. Still, it's doubtful that he'll be ready for Opening Day, which means Ernesto Frieri might be the favorite to open the season as the closer.
