Turner expected to play OF this spring

Justin Turner is expected to get some reps in the outfield this spring.

"We talked about it at the end of the season last year," said Turner, referencing a conversation with Mets manager Terry Collins. "He told he wanted me to get out there, get some reps. I don't know if that means I'm going to be playing for a spot, or it's just another couple of positions to maybe get some more at-bats." Turner has never played the outfield in pro ball, but some extra versatility wouldn't hurt. The 28-year-old batted .273/.326/.373 with one home run, 17 RBI and a .698 OPS in 175 plate appearances last season while making starts at all four infield positions.
