Reds, Choo avoid arb. with one-year deal

Reds and OF Shin-Soo Choo avoided arbitration Monday by agreeing to a one-year, $7.375 million contract.
Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors passed along the contract information. Choo requested $8 million and was offered $6.75 million from the Reds when arbitration figures were exchanged last month, so the two sides settled at the midpoint. The 30-year-old outfielder is due to become a free agent following the 2013 season.
