The Charlotte Observer mentions impending free agent FS Kenny Phillips as an option for the Panthers.

Phillips almost certainly won't be back with the Giants, who appear set at safety with Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown. New Panthers GM Dave Gettleman also knows Phillips from his days with the Giants. Phillips has battled knee issues since entering the NFL, but he would be quite an upgrade on Haruki Nakamura.
