Troy Tulowitzki won't play in WBC
Troy Tulowitzki - SS - Colorado Rockies
Feb. 9, 2013 - 12:30 PM ET

Troy Tulowitzki will not play for the United States in the World Baseball Classic.

Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post writes that "insurance issues regarding (Tulowitzki's) contract will preclude his participation in the WBC." But while it's been deemed too risky to let Tulo play in the WBC, his surgically-repaired groin is doing great after "extensive physical therapy and flexibility exercises." Tulo has been taking groundballs and hitting for several weeks and has also ran the bases. Rockies manager Walt Weiss said the shortstop has "looked 100 percent. Watching him, I would have never known he was hurt."
