Mets could offer Bourn a four-year deal

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets have hinted at a willingness to offer a four-year contract to free agent outfielder Michael Bourn.

The two sides have also discussed a three-year deal. Bourn's agent, Scott Boras, continues to say that he has attractive offers elsewhere, but Sherman suggests that the Mets could be sitting with the highest offer. The Mets will only sign Bourn if they know for sure that their first-round pick will be protected, but both the club and the Boras' camp are confident that they have a winning argument should the case go to an arbitrator.
