Jets unlikely to meet Revis' demands
Darrelle Revis - DB - New York Jets
Feb. 3, 2013 - 2:45 PM ET

ESPN New York believes the Jets are willing to make Darrelle Revis the highest paid cornerback in the league, but that they're unlikely to "(go) into the $16 million-a-year neighborhood."

That's a problem, as Revis has made it clear he doesn't just want to be the highest paid defensive back in the league, but to reset the pay scale entirely. Beat writer Rich Cimini believes the 49ers could emerge as Revis' most dogged pursuer if they get "torched" by Joe Flacco in the Super Bowl. Cimini floats the Niners sending the Jets Alex Smith and a first-round pick as a possibility. Adam Schefter recently theorized the Niners could flip Smith and a second-round pick. The Niners will be a potential Revis destination win or lose on Sunday, but it's far too early to meaningfully speculate on possible landing spots.
