Padres, Headley avoid arbitration at $8.575M
Chase Headley - 3B - San Diego Padres
Jan. 30, 2013 - 9:10 PM ET

Padres and 3B Chase Headley avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $8.575 million contract.

Headley requested $10.3 million with the Padres countering at $7.075 million when figures were exchanged earlier this month. It's a well-earned raise for the 28-year-old third baseman, who finished fifth in the NL MVP voting in 2012 after hitting .286 with 31 home runs and 115 RBI. Headley also earned his first Gold Glove.
