Spikes' salary jumps to $630K after escalator

Patriots MLB Brandon Spikes' 2013 salary jumped from $575,000 to $630,000 based on rookie-deal incentives.
Spikes had a career year in 2012, starting 14 games and registering 92 tackles. He's proven to be stout against the run, but he's part of a slow linebacker corps in New England that struggles against the pass. Entering the final year of his contract, Spikes will remain an inside thumper for New England.
