Vikings DE Griffen sparks 2013 escalator

Vikings DE Everson Griffen's base salary will be up from $575,000 to $630,000 in 2013 after he hit escalators in his rookie contract.
Minnesota tried converting Griffen into an outside linebacker last summer, but they smartly moved him back to defensive end. He responded by notching a career-high eight sacks while working in as the third pass rusher behind Jared Allen and Brian Robison. All three of Allen, Griffen, and Robison are entering the final years of their respective deals.
