Texans ILB Sharpton sparks salary escalator

Texans ILB Darryl Sharpton's 2013 base salary increased from $575,000 to $630,000 after he hit escalators in his rookie deal.
Sharpton battled a hip issue all season long and ended the season on injured reserve after starting five games. He's fought injuries his entire career, dating back to his college days at Miami. Entering the final year of his contract, Sharpton won't be guaranteed a starting spot, even with four Houston inside 'backers hitting free agency.
