ESPN.com's Bill Williamson doesn't expect the Chiefs to use the No. 1 pick on a quarterback "unless something drastically changes."
Williamson is putting two and two together as opposed to citing league sources, but this jibes with the consensus that no quarterback from this year's mediocre class took a notable step forward at the Senior Bowl. According to Williamson, West Virginia's Geno Smith is still "widely considered" the best QB prospect. Smith didn't participate in last week's festivities. There remains three months for new Chiefs coach Andy Reid to fall in love with a signal caller, but he's not going to gamble the draft's No. 1 selection on a hope and a prayer.
