Mariners interested in Kelly Shoppach?

ESPN's Jason Churchill reports that the Mariners are "making significant progress" in contract talks with free agent Kelly Shoppach.
The Mariners traded John Jaso to Oakland earlier this month, and could look to bring in Shoppach as depth behind Jesus Montero, as the 32-year-old has a history with manager Eric Wedge. If signed, Shoppach would serve as Seattle's backup catcher and likely push Ronny Paulino into an organizational depth role.
